Joy is named as one of the Best New Artists of 2008 by Christianity Today Online! Here’s what they had to say:
“For everyone still aching over the Jennifer Knapp-shaped-hole left in the Christian music industry after her retirement, you might consider checking out Joy Whitlock. There are a lot of similarities in artistry, both in her rootsy pop/rock style and her vulnerable lyricism. (She’s also a dead ringer for Kendall Payne.) Whitlock was a bit of a problem child before recently recommitting her life to Christ, and that spiritual journey is reflected with openness and passion through songs best described as her conversations with God—”

Congrats Joy!! Well-deserved and way to go! I totally agree.
Take care,
Kevin

And again, thnks.

WOW, even the “critics” agree with my musical tastes/choices in this instance!
Congrats! Keep BOTH eyes on the prize as if no one were looking ~ with that ONE priority nothing derails this special rocket from its current “UPstanding” trajectory! (”special rocket” being that intimate relationship with Jesus that brings out the musical gift of song that is heavy in anointing and so contagious to all of us who are listening/worshipping to your album!)
blah blah…wordy enough sounds like I used a thesaurus to type it!
I have known Joy over the past 4 years and continued to be blown away by her transparency and authenticity. These are 2 words that are usually thrown around by people who wished they had those traits….so you won’t hear Joy telling everyone she’s like this. But she is, and the honestly and joy and surrender in her music cannot be manufactured or manipulated. That may be why her songs haven’t found a quick home on CCM radio. But they will make themselves at home in the hearts of those who will take the time to listen. So for those who have ears to hear….
That is awesome and something we have all known for a while. Well deserved for an artist that has the heart right and is authentic.Keep being real!!
