Ok….this one is really gonna turn some heads. This is not for the seeker friendly…or the faint at heart. Here we go…

“The Son of God suffered unto the death, NOT that men might not suffer, but that their sufferings might be like His.” (emphasis mine) George Macdonald

As Todd Agnew always says…”And discuss…”

I do think Jesus suffered “unto the death” so that we might not suffer…eternally. I can’t find any place in the Bible where He says He died to take away our earthly pain though. I do think though that in His suffering, He didn’t just permanently change the way we can come to God and didn’t just pay our ransom, but also gave us an Ally, Someone who knows our pain, our heartaches, our temptations and the burdens of this world in a real life way.

If God had stayed up in heaven and solved our salvation problem from up above, we’d be left with the temptation to think God doesn’t understand or care about our pain down here on earth. Jesus’ life and death tells me different.

Romans 6:1-14 I read all the time to remind myself that I should die to sin, and be only slave to Him.
As Laura says Jesus was sent so that we understand that God understands our fleshly struggles and suffering.
Yes, may we suffer as Christ suffered, may we all love as Christ loved us, which is to say…sacrifice and suffering.

    PS:
I love you music, the lyrics touch me very personally…….please come to NorthEast…
